AFFLICTION IS ONE OF GOD’S MEDICINES BY J.C. RYLE
Affliction is one of God’s medicines. By it He often teaches lessons which would be learned in no other way. By it He often draws souls away from sin and the world, which would otherwise have perished everlastingly. Health is a great blessing, but sanctified disease...
CHARLES SPURGEON & CHRIST-LIKE RESPONSES TO CRITICS by Vance Christie
When Charles Spurgeon skyrocketed to prominence in London as a young preacher in his early twenties, he had many critics. Not a few of his detractors were Christians. One of those was the Rev. James Wells of Surrey Tabernacle, an eminent minister who was then at the...
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES by J.C. RYLE
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of...
IS THE REFORMATION OVER? By Dr. RC Sproul
Is the Reformation over? There have been several observations rendered on this subject by those I would call “erstwhile evangelicals.” One of them wrote, “Luther was right in the sixteenth century, but the question of justification is not an issue now.” A second...

“Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the...
I WILL FEAR NO EVIL by CH Spurgeon
"I will fear no evil, for you are with me" (Psalm 23:4). Consider how the Holy Spirit can make the Christian independent of outward circumstances. What a bright light may shine within us when it is really dark outside! How firm, how happy, how calm, how peaceful we...
10 WAYS TO RESIST THE DEVIL by Pastor Tim Challies
It is one of the Bible’s many sweet and powerful promises: “Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). The question is, though, how do we do this? In very practical ways, how do we resist the devil? Thomas Brooks, in his book “Precious Remedies Against...
HOW CAN I KNOW IF I’M SAVED? by Dr. R.C. Sproul Jr.
There is no greater personal issue than our relationship with the living God. There are no greater stakes imaginable than the difference between eternal torment and eternal bliss. As such it is no wonder that so many struggle with issues of assurance of salvation. I...
